If you want to get involved with the revival of Florida Lake, Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ) is giving the community an opportunity to apply for funding on proposals.
This project aims to give Florida Lake a facelift because it has been sitting idle, dormant and unused for a number of years now, when it can add much needed value to the quality of life of the residents.
The public should submit proposals which must be sustainable and innovative from legally registered organisations, including community-based organisations that are interested in partnering with JCPZ in the revival of the lake.
Requirements for submissions include proof of company registration issued by the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission, tax registration, proof of office/ home address, certificate of good standing and funding for the project from which the submission is made.
Suggested activities include rehabilitation and clean-up of the lake; boating/sporting activities (innovative ideas are welcome within a permissible safety regulatory framework); a unique picnic area; children’s play area/ water play area; events area; wi-fi benches and/or li-fi with cameras; provision of security; maintenance requirements as well as daily grass cutting, weeding and litter picking; tree pruning; daily staffing of the park; and capacitation with a minimum of two large ride-on mowers and at least five brush cutters.
All submissions and intended revival developments will be required to take into account the following mandatory requirements:
Successful applicants will be invited to present to the Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo Projects Committee. Terms and Conditions apply.
The following qualification documentation is required: Company/ Community registered name, Company registration number, VAT Registration number if applicable, Proof of Sars registration if applicable. Certificate of Good standing with the Department of Labour where applicable. Provide financial projections for revenue sharing.
Submissions should be addressed to Mr Bryne Maduka, Managing Director of Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo, and delivered to Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo, Johannesburg City Parks & Zoo House, Ground Floor, 40 De Korte Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg or e-mailed to [email protected].
Closing date will be determined by the best value and competitive range offered for the Lake’s Revival. All project proposals will be taken through a pre-screening process to ensure alignment with JCPZ’s processes and operational mandate.
