Park Run needs volunteers

Heimar Williams.

Every Saturday morning at Len Rutter Park, hundreds of runners from the community join the Park Run. The 5km event is not only for runners but also walkers, and for those who just want to exercise too. The race is not a competition between runners as there are no big prizes.

The event managers are however looking for extra hands to assist in the operations. Volunteers are tasked with operating the timer, or scanning the runners’ barcodes with simple barcode readers. Experienced young runners assist with marshalling and ensuring runners stay on course.

Just like participants in the main race, the volunteers will also receive numbered T-shirts when they reach their 50th and 100th milestones.

The runs take place on Saturdays at 8am.
