“Take back your dignity”

It was a journey of a triumphant and favoured woman as Kwena Ramatlotlo hosted a recent event celebrating women at the Witpoortjie Recreational Hall. The theme of the event was women taking back their rightful place in the community.

Kwena, who is a social worker by trade, wants women to take back their dignity and stand strong. “I felt the timing was perfect for women to say they’d had enough of being abused, abducted and used for evil purposes, and that this behaviour must come to an end. We gathered together to empower one another and celebrate the life we have as women in this community,” she said.

Kwena has had many women visiting her office in search of help and guidance. “My journey has never been easy,” she said. “Women are emotionally abused, hurt and disappointed by other women, their partners, family members and those close to them. Every woman needs to stand strong – I have learned that without perseverance, nothing is possible. We will lift up the flag of a triumphant woman and everyone will take their authority.”

Kwena is planning to host the event quarterly at other venues on the West Rand, and to branch out to other provinces as well.
