“Come join us on this journey, as we work toward freedom and breakthrough.”

These are the words of Daniël Prinsloo, a pastor from Foresight Church, about the new recovery group they are starting. “This is a Christian-based group that aims to help people to overcome life’s challenges, including depression, addiction, low self-esteem, anxiety and other social struggles,” he said.

According to Daniël, they have noticed a growing need in the community for this type of group, and they really believe they can make a difference. “We all have the same six basic needs – security, adventure, significance, love and connection, and growth and contribution, and they all need to be fulfilled – one way or another. If we do not have healthy ways to fulfill them, we will seek unhealthy or even destructive ways to meet these needs. This coping mechanism then leads to irrational beliefs about ourselves and others,” said Daniël.

The group will be meeting on a weekly basis, and will aim to equip people with the right tools to meet these essential needs in a healthy way. “We will also work on changing the negative thinking patterns that have developed over time, as our real fight happens in our beliefs and thinking,” he said.

Interested parties are welcome to attend the meetings that will take place every Monday night from 7pm to 8.30pm at 153 Ontdekkers Road, Roodepoort. “These sessions are free of charge, but registration is essential,” said Daniël.

He concluded by saying, “This is a place where you will be able talk and open up about your problems. We do not have a hidden agenda, we just want to help.”
